Walk Your Way to Wellness

Why should I walk? What’s in it for me? Can it really be that good?

All these questions and more have been answered by the experts, and if you want to feel better, look better, and live longer – walking will give you a better chance of getting there.

Regular physical activity is one of the most important things you can do for your health. Moderate aerobic activity, like walking, for 30 minutes a day can prevent or delay health related issues that arise as we age. It helps muscles get stronger, improves balance, and increases cardiovascular endurance.

Incorporating walking into our daily routine not only helps the body physically but will help improve your mood, improves cognitive ability, and increases feeling of overall wellbeing. It takes little time for walking to benefit our body. Walk 30 minutes, or as little as a mile. Add a minute or a few more steps each day until your walking for an hour, or nearly three miles, and you will feel the difference.

Avoid injury by not trying to do too much all at once. If you’ve been inactive for a period of time or you’re recovering from health-related issues, start slowly and consult your personal health advisor.

Other benefits from walking include stronger bones, reduced excess body fat, lowers the risk of high blood pressure, and the decreased risk of developing type 2 diabetes. You will see your energy level increase and you will be better able to complete your daily activities. Your sleep will improve and your immune system will be strengthened.
